While slogging away at our computers the other day, Tom asked me out of the blue if I wanted to go with him to the BMA for a couple of hours. Sure, I love art and even better, there's no entrance fee! Even the main exhibit, Print by Print: Series from Dürer to Lichtenstein, is free! For those who've never been to this local gem in Charles Village right next to Johns Hopkins University

A Surreal Trip to Dietzen & Sons
Believe it or not, my Dad, Chris Dreja, in addition to being a world-class photographer, is a founding member of the British rock band The Yardbirds.

"The Yardbirds, perhaps more than any other group, brought guitar pyrotechnics to rock & roll in the 1960s. By introducing Clapton, Beck and Page to the world, and giving them plenty of space to create, the band set the template not only for Cream, the Jeff Beck Group and Led Zeppelin, but for virtually every rock group featuring distortion, feedback and in-your-face electric-guitar virtuosity."

Recently, he was on tour in the U.S. and performed at The Rams Head Tavern in Annapolis. He had a couple of days off so we commandeered him and brought him up to Baltimore. He still lives in London and so the only time we really see each other is when he comes over to perform and this was the first time he would see our new house. He knows I like to

                  'Cheers!'
We finally made it to Mr. Rain's Fun House which sits at the top of the American Visionary Arts Museum. Upon arriving I knew we had made a good choice when I heard LCD Sound System playing followed by The Smiths. What a visual feast for the eyes! Large arched window, glass mosaic walls, shiny strips of glass dangling over the bar and colorful art and sculptures everywhere. Our waitress was great and started us off with the most amazing cocktails. I had the "Private Idaho" with organic cherry vodka,...

Admit it, you had this didn't you!
Yikes, I have to admit, I'm overdue for a visit to the dentist, but I think it's time to go! Tomorrow is the last day for the current exhibit at the National Museum of Dentistry in Baltimore. I've heard about this museum, but haven't gone yet. I just checked out their web site and it looks like a lot of fun. Apparently, they have President George Washington's....

Not exactly in Baltimore, but DC is close enough! Over Easter break we took our kids to the "free" National Building Museum in Washington. Just being in the amazing space itself is worth it. The vast central room must be 50' tall and the columns are like something out of ancient Greece. We went to see the current LEGO exhibit ($5/person over 3 years old) featuring these amazing skyscrapers built by one of LEGO's 9 master builders. The largest was about 12' tall and

Yesterday we had a great time at the American Visionary Arts Museum. They currently have a terrific exhibit called "What Makes Us Smile". The museum -- stocked to the brim -- gift shop is alone worth the trip! It's jam packed full of silly gag gifts, jewelry, nick nacks......and so cheap. My kids personal favorite part of the exhibit was the bench covered with whoopie cushions. Can you believe some........
